RUDE

ree

'Rude' is a screen printing studio and shop inn Stoke Newington, London. The building also has an art and coffee shop called ‘Everyday Sunshine’ which brings customers in from the busy streets of London, to a creative and inspiring place to chill out. The team also partners with multiple different brands and people including the famous brand ‘Absolut’ to create colourful expressions and type formats which can be found on their website too!

Rude sells three different types of prints on their website which are screen prints, indigo prints and giclee prints, two of which I have not heard of before, which made me very intrigued to find out the difference between all three of these printing techniques.

The majority of the work that they print and sell are full of vivid, saturated, eye popping colour which is the main reason as to why I was drawn to their work initially. I notice that there is a overwhelming amount of shapes used in each design and if it is not shape, it is type and pattern. Their work is so beautiful in a way that it is so simple yet warming.

‘Rude’s work definitely brightened my day due to their use of language in different prints, including ‘get your creative juices flowing’ and ‘do what you love’. I can understand why these prints are so popular since they come from such a positive work area, which seems like it cold be an escape for some people.

ree

I enjoy the contrast in line work throughout their portfolio of work, since some text is weighted and bold yet the linework that provides pattern and direction, brings a subtlety that encapsulates the idea that even a little adds so much more.

I encourage you to go check out their amazing prints, especially the giclee ones as I will be coming back to the website for shoots of inspiration too!

Emily :)
