Gina Rosas - Inspiration

Gina Rosas is Columbian illustrator based in Germany, who is inspired by old Columbian folk music. She uses a variety of shape and texture (depending on the piece) to create detailed design illustrations.

It is clear to see that she uses digital technologies to produce the most colourful outcomes. When viewing her work, I found that a key theme running throughout her portfolio was shape. Whether the shapes are curved and smooth or rough and bumpy, I find that her work is defined by shape, which is why I believe she stood out to me. Don’t get me wrong her colour palette is beautiful alongside her use of tonality within each piece.

Her portfolio of work is filled with playful characters and line work, each piece has rhythm and tells a story in some kind of way.

The one piece that stood out to me the most would be the illustration below of a woman that seems to be dancing to a rhythm. I find that there is so much harmony found here, with the subtle pattern, layering and colour palette it brings emphasis of positivity. Adding to this, her line work is so fluid it provides movement and a flow throughout the design, especially with the positioning and stance of the character.

As always, of course I highly recommend you to check her work out.
