My first craft fair as a stall holder

I am over the moon to have been able to tick off one of my tasks on my business bucket list last Sunday. I attended my first craft fair as a stall holder.

When I got accepted to be a part of this craft fair, I had just over three weeks to prepare for it which seemed like enough time for my first one and I believe it was. Over those three weeks I printed my entire collection of A5, A4 and A3 prints. Not only this, I took on a mission to produce two new products so that I have variation on my stall. These items were bookmarks and A6 greetings cards. During the redesign process to make my illustrations work on both greetings card and bookmarks, I ordered lots of stock in preparation for the event. From envelopes to label paper and wooden racks to present my work, it all came together perfectly. Not only did I purchase lots for it, my Dad and I worked hours to make wooden boxes and other stands and display items for the day. Once everything had been printed, packaged and prepared, I did a mock set up to see what needed tweaking.

The day arrived and I was feeling a little nervous yet mostly excited. I arrived at the local leisure centre where the market took place and began to unpack the car (I was concerned that not everything would fit in the car yet that wasn't the case). All in all I think it took about 40 minutes to set up and be content with my stall. What a proud moment it was to see my stall out in the world alongside local crafty people like me!

To summarise, I was delighted with how many people had lovely things to say about my products and meet such warming stall holders and get to know them also was wonderful. Attending my first craft fair certainly grew my confidence in not only myself but my business too!

From my experience as a supplier for the market I certainly learnt a lot about my products and my target audience.

I cannot wait for my next one!
