Oliver Kruger, most famous for his drawings, is a German illustrator based in London who has won multiple awards including the Victoria and Albert Museum Illustrator Award in 2011. He draws portraits, food, maps and more! His style is very raw and hand drawn which is clear, looking into his work, scrolling through his online portfolio.

His work caught my eye due to the strong black line work, mixed with the overlapping solid blocks of colour. Further more, his decision of where to add colour and where to focus the line is very different which drew my eye to his work. Plus, in some of his work, he writes on the pieces, labelling aspects or describing them to set a scene so it feels like you are within the image. I also enjoy the labelling idea with each drawing because they give an idea of who Kugler really is, I find it very informal and witty even!

From looking through his portfolio of work it is clear he uses digital technologies to create these pieces. For example, due to the smooth line, strong block colour and high resolution I would assume he uses Illustrator as his medium.

Personally, I thoroughly enjoy digital drawing whether thats on Illustrator or Photoshop. I do mainly use a Wacom Tablet when using these programs and I find it very useful!

I would highly recommend checking his online portfolio out, it is AMAZINGGG!!

Emily :)
