Sebastian Curi - Inspiration

Sebastian Curi

Curi is a Los Angeles based animator/illustrator who was born in Argentina. His clients include Apple, Spotify and Nike which is beyond AMAZING!

His main focus is character development and human interaction. He creates cool animations from his already stunning illustrations, which is something that I would love to get into. These animations are not exactly the most mind-blowing of them all, yet it adds so much to a static animation, it almost seems more personal.

Sebastian Curi’s work caught my eye because of his use of bold, saturated colours in random shapes which somehow manage to m make up a character. From looking into his portfolio, it almost seems that each character is bending over backwards, or in an uncomfortable position, yet this just works so so well in each and every design of his. I have more times than once, had to take a double glance at areas of his illustrations, to kinda figure out what exactly is going on. Yet, once I have figured it out and regained my bearings a little, it is as clear as day and I believe that it gives it so much more enthusiasm and even humour.

His colour palette is outstanding! You can probably guess by now how much I love colour, so I definitely couldn’t miss out on this mention. A common theme within his work would be the use of small detail and flat background, how each charters huge limbs greet the other character in any illustration. Talking about characters, it seems that each of them is at peace with whatever is going on around them, they do not seem to care and quite frankly I’m pleasantly mesmerised with each of his beautiful drawings.

He’s doing something right, that's for sure!
