I found SuperShe, scrolling through It’s Nice That. Reading into the article and visiting the website promoting the app, I began to understand SuperShe is an app to encourage the women community in anything they do for themselves, so that women can feel empowered and know they are not alone. It helps create bonds with other women with the app, they can support each other through posts. The usual stereotype of women is be to be perfect, clean and shaven, pamper evenings and enjoy a salad yet SuperShe challenges this and enforces acceptance no matter what female you are. There is a range of different merchandise that SuperShe has available, whether than be a T shirt or a tote bag.

The campaign caught my attention due to the house style in terms of colour. Their colour palette of red, black and white is very striking, which I find works in the same way as their message, for it is a message to be known world wide. SuperShe’s illustration team did an amazing job with the drawings, as they are simple yet they present encouraging, uplifting and strong messages for women who come across the app. When working on my own brief, I find it difficult to stick to a set colour scheme, let alone three colours! Yet they seem to have done a great job here, it is clear what the team are trying to portray. In terms of type as well, it is sans serif and comes from the protest posters that can be seen throughout history.

I find in today’s society, perfection is always encouraged and standing out really isn’t. I’m sure you have read or heard something similar many time before yet I feel strongly about ‘you doing you’ no matter the judgement that may come alongside it. In the end, you do what makes you happy, not for anyone else since if you don’t then who will? As much as we have to look after one another, we have to be strong within ourselves do what we want and be who we want to be!!

Go check out the SuperShe app, it’s an eyeopener.
Emily :)
