In the past couple of days I have been searching through D&AD and I have discovered many inspirations to look further into! Useless London is one which caught my eye.

Useless London is a website, launched in 2019, to voice how much plastic waste is not recycled in the UK. I won't spoil the experience too much (just a little) so you can go check it out yourself! The website gives astonishing facts about recycling in the UK; it gives a survival kit that people can look into in terms of reducing the amount of plastic consumed on an everyday basis (which I found out interesting) and it also provides a map of zero waste shops in London. It pretty much promotes people to stay away from using plastic as much as possible by campaigning for zero waste products and seeing the bigger picture.

It caught my eye due to the simple colour scheme and house style of the website, each page links together through colour, type and pattern. Blue, green, red, yellow. Yes please! Such a great choice of colour, in my opinion anyway :) The simplicity of illustration style also intrigued me as it is straight to the point whilst easy to understand and visualise their message that they are bringing forward. Looking into the typeface for the logo and headers, it is bold and striking which relates to their message as it should not be an issue that is pushed to the side nor forgotten about. Yet it is modern, with contrasting line work which brings emphasis to the name of the website for it is a matter that should be promoted.

I found the website very interesting, I would also recommend you all to head over there and hope you feel inspired too!

Bring on the next piece of inspiration I say!

Emily :)
